The Land Matters Consultation Initiative (LMCI) will provide a forum for all interested parties and the Board to engage in dialogue and generate options to support the long-term responsible development of the energy sector, while respecting the rights of those affected.

Land Matters Consultation Initiative – extension of deadlines [Filing A21142]
NOTICE: As a result of requests from parties, the NEB extended the comment period on both the LMCI Draft Final Report and on the Stream 4 Draft Principles, to 31 March 2009.
Due to this, the NEB will release the LMCI Final Report and the final version of the Principles for the End State of Land Post-Abandonment, by the end of May 2009.
On 16 December 2008, the NEB released its Draft Final Report on its Land Matters Consultation Initiative [Filing A20721] (LMCI). On 21 January 2009 the NEB released Draft Principles for the End State of Land Post-Abandonment [Filing A20961], for LMCI Stream 4. The Board invited comments on both documents by 20 February 2009.

Draft Principles for the End State of Land Post-Abandonment for LMCI Stream 4 [Filing A20961]
The NEB released a revised list of Principles that could guide planning for the end state of land post-abandonment. The final principles will be incorporated into the Guidance Notes of the Onshore Pipeline Regulations, 1999 and will be referenced in the NEB's Filing Manual.
