“Forward” momentum

The latest on the CCA's National Policy Conference

Ottawa , October 1, 2004 -   The CCA is busily finalizing details for this November's National Policy Conference in Regina . The newest and latest details on From Act to Action: Moving Forward on Status of the Artist , including the conference program, associated events, and registration information are available on the CCA's new and improved website at http://www.ccarts.ca/en/events/acttoaction.htm .

The CCA has confirmed several important speakers for the conference, who will share their wealth of knowledge on the history and future of Status of the Artist legislation. Among them:

• Albert Millaire , renowned actor and   the former Chair of the Canadian Council on Status of the Artist
• Bastien Gilbert, Executive Director of the Regroupement des centres d'artistes autogérés du Québec – RCAAQ
• Arlette Cousture, a well-known Quebec author of the Les filles de Caleb series, journalist and broadcaster, and an original member of the Canadian Council on Status of the Artist
• Brenda Niskala, poet and fiction writer, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Publishers Group, and a member of the Saskatchewan Minister's Advisory Committee on the Status of the Artist, 1993
• Robert Dickson, author and poet, winner of the 2002 Governor General's Literary Award for Poetry in French, professor at Laurentian University and a member of the Ontario Advisory Panel on Status of the Artist
• Dave Margoshes, fiction writer and poet, winner of the 1996 Stephen Leacock Poetry Award.
