Clarke, Irwin announced in its 1972 summer catalogue that in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Emily Carr it was "issuing in new form all of the literary works which helped bring this great Canadian artist the recognition largely denied during her life.

At 69, Emily Carr saw her first book, Klee Wyck, published. It won a Governor General's Award for literature. Growing Pains was her autobiography; Hundreds and Thousands, her journals; other books were Pause, A Sketch Book; The Book of Small; The House of All Sorts. These are available inexpensively in paperback editions.
