Pinware, situated between the now abandoned East Ste. Modeste and West Ste. Modeste, is the area of some of the oldest archaeological sites in Labrador. The name of the community has changed from Riviere Des Francois, through Piroutte River, Pied Noir and Black Bay to Pinware.
