Port Hope Simpson

Port Hope Simpson was named after John Hope Simpson, the man who established a logging operation at Port Hope Simpson in 1933. Earlier residents, the Notleys, lived on an island about one mile away, at Light Tickle. When the logging operation began people moved to Port Hope Simpson, mainly from William's Harbour, Georges Cove, and as far north as Seal Islands.
