My father died before I was born. He drowned over to Summer Cove Point. They found a piece of board on a rock where my father wrote "My days is ended. I hope God will help somebody to go and see my family." Tom Palliser and them found it. He took my poor mother and sister to his place. A week before my father died my sister froze her legs and he had to chop them off to save her. After my father died Dr. Grenfell came and took sister away. She stayed away until after mommy died. We hardly knowed each other when she came back because I was only small when she left. I am half Eskimo, half Newfoundlander. My mommy was from Newfoundland and my father was a northern Eskimo. Mommy married twice. Her last husband was George Palliser. I had one brother and one sister. My brother was Tom Palliser. He went to Cartwright for three years then went North as an interpreter. He died in the North.
