William's Harbour
The origin of the name William's Harbour cannot be established for certain
but it is possible that it was named after one of the Newfoundland Williams in the fishery around
the late 1770s or for John Williams, a surgeon's mate from Chateau who came to help one of
Cartwright's crew members.
