The first church services were held by three different denominations; Presbyterian, Church of England, and Methodist.  The services were held in the C.P.R. depot in 1883.

In 1884 the town’s first church, the Presbyterian, was built.  The Presbyterians shared their church with the Church of England and Methodists.

In 1885 the 2nd church in Grenfell was built—St. Michael and All Angels.

In 1916 electric lighting was installed in the churches.

In 1925 the United Church was built.

The most picturesque of the country churches was St. Andrews Anglican Church in an area that was once called the Weed Hills.

The Weldon Church was believed to be the first Union Church in Canada, it was built in 1908.
