LatitudeThe ultimate source of all of the earth’s heat is the sun. Because the equator receives the most energy from the sun, the hottest climates on earth will be found in equatorial regions. The energy received from the sun decreases as distance from the equator increases. Therefore, the climate tends to cool towards both the north and south poles.
