The Montane ClimateChinooks are characteristic of the Montane Subregion and it is intermittently snow-free in the winter. The mean temperature between May and September is about 12 degrees Celsius with a mean July temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a mean January temperature of minus or negative 8 degrees Celsius. The Montane Subregion experiences about 70 frost-free days per year. Average annual precipitation is about 600 millimetres but may get over 1200 millimetres if the year sees a lot of snow and rain. Precipitation is generally lower in the northerly portion of the Montane.
