Classroom In The Iglu Project 1997, 1998 & 1999

The Classroom In The Iglu projects were initiated by the Levi Angmak Iliniarvialaaq Elementary School in 1992 and still continue today.

They are an important component in the school year, when student spend a half or full day at a traditional iglu site, carrying out activities typical of a winter camp. Levi Angmak Iliniarvialaaq also has a fall caribou camp and a spring fishing camp which all students participate in with elders and parents.

During the Classroom in the Iglu, students learn how to build iglus and learn traditional skills. The 1998 project was developed jointly along with the Sivullinuut Elder's Society with an anticipation that the Sivullinuut would take over future projects.
