The small schoolhouse is a replica of a schoolhouse that existed between present-day Bonnyville and Fort Kent, and north of Charlotte Lake. The District of Durlingville had been settled before the town of Bonnyville was founded, and children from Durlingville and the outlying community were taught at the schoolhouse from 1912 to 1940, after which children traveled to Bonnyville and Fort Kent to receive schooling.
