CBC radio coverage of the four week Canadian tour by Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh.

September 6: The first television broadcast on CBC

1952 jump to milestones
The first TV broadcasts in Canada:
CBFT in Montreal on September 6 and CBLT in Toronto on September 8.

Febuary: CBC representatives participated in the BBC broadcast from London and Windsor of the funeral of King George VI. The broadcast was carried by nearly every Canadian startion.

1953
CBC was the first broadcasting system in North America to show complete film-coverage of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth on television - it was shown within four hours of the end of the ceremony.

1954
The first microwave linked show from the west that was seen in the east.

1955
The first CBC telecast of the Opening of Parliament.

1958
June : The opening of the CBC Calgary Delay Centre, with videotape recording facilities to delay network programs for western time zones.

The first all-Canadian coast-to-coast live television transmission.

1959
Microwave network extended to Newfoundland.
