This collection of world maps drawn by children from many countries can be used as a teaching resource to engage students in activities to encourage learning about the world.

Internet links have been included to make it easy to move from these maps to sources which can be used to find information about countries and topics.  These links have been selected for their access stability and high information value.

The maps themselves present a number of themes reflecting common concerns of children, no matter where the map artist resides, which students can explore.

The search feature permits students to select themes of interest to them and to consider how children of different ages living in various parts of the world see these issues.  They can investigate major themes further. For example, the theme 'culture' could be sub-divided into specific aspects such as 'friendship' or 'transportation'.

The maps can also be used as a resource for simple statistical analysis and visual presentations.

Diversity of artistic expression can be investigated from the point of view of art medium, map design, and interpretive skills demonstrated by the map creators.  Students can use the map images to create postcards, notepaper or greeting cards for their personal use.  However, it is important to note that any original artwork selected will have to withstand appropriate reduction in size.

To add some fun to the mix, here are some Internet links to online geography games and quizzes:
