Fairbanks-Morse Diesel Engine: This is the diesel engine that would have provided power for all the major functions of the sawmill. Originally, the sawmill was powered by a steam engine which is still onsite at the museum, located at Watson's Garage. Recently a diesel engine was kindly donated to the museum and it is currently on display. Compared to engines of today, this engine would have been less efficient, but in the 1930s, having a diesel engine in a sawmill would have increased production immensely. This engine produces less than a quarter of the power that an average car would produce today, but that amount of power would have been more than enough to power a sawmill of this size.
