Shingle Press: This is a
traditional shingle press that would have been in use during the 1930s. As one might
think, it was used to make shingles for houses. Shingles made from a press like this would
have lasted quite a bit longer than the shingles in use today. Not only are the shingles
more durable, but they are also much easier to make.
This shingle
press is still operational. The shingles from this press were used to repair some of
the museum buildings. This press has the capacity to last for another 25 years or
longer. A bundle of these shingles can be sold today for one-hundred and fifty dollars. |
