This Woodstove, made by the Findlay Brothers Company in Carleton Place Ontario, was the only source of heat that the teacher and children working in the schoolhouse would have had. It was the older childrens' responsibility to collect firewood and bring it to school everyday in the winter to heat the building. For this they got paid a small amount of money which would have made it worth it since children would not have had the chance to make much money in those days!
