This machine was used to type up messages to inform passengers of the arrival times for the trains. It was also used to inform them of news. The typewriter was one of the few 'modern' tools available to the station master. The typewriter was very useful in typed up bulletins for the passengers, outlining; delays, changes or lost and found items.
