Agfa Camera

SpacerThis studio camera dates to 1905. After the glass plate was light sensitive, it would be placed into a plate holder and put in the camera. A black cloth would be placed over the back of the camera to block any back light that would ruin the picture and the shutter would be removed. The exposure time would depend on the amount of light. After the exposure was over, the holder was removed from the camera and taken to the dark room where developer was poured over the plate until the image became clear. To make the photo look sharper, the plate was immersed in a cyanide fix and placed under cold running water. The photo was then sprayed with black paint and a coat of lacquer was applied.
