This needlepoint depicts the biblical story taken from Genesis 21:8-14. In the passage, Sarah, Abraham's wife, commands Abraham to banish Hagar, the maidservant, and Ishmiel, Abraham's and Hagar's son, to the Beersheba Desert. Sarah is fearful that Ishmiel, who she feels is of corrupt character will receive a portion of the wealth that is due to Isaac, Abraham and Sarah's son.
