Objectives:
  1. Construct and test a structure that can fly.
  2. Identify variables that need to be held constant to ensure a fair test and identify criteria for assessment.

Activity:
  1. Follow instructions on the Internet site to construct a Falcon Flyer.
  2. Identify variables that need to be considered and controlled to ensure a fair test.
  3. Identify criteria for success of Falcon Flyer.
  4. Test Falcon Flyer.
  5. Record and compare results. Graph according to chosen criteria.
  6. Discuss and list alterations students would make.
  7. Share Falcon Flyers with another class, students may work in pairs.
  8. Write about what they did in their daily log.

Instructions and template can be printed out. Ask your grocer for clean styrofoam plates.
