Ontario Curriculum Objectives
  • The Ontario Language, Math and Science/Technology curriculum has just been revised. The following objectives are for a Grade 2 level, which can be adapted right up to Grade 6.

LANGUAGE

Writing
  • Communicate ideas for specific purposes (paragraph describing a trip)
  • Organize ideas in a logical sequence (beginning, middle, end)
  • Produce short pieces of writing using simple forms (narrative, poem)
  • Use some materials from other media (collage) to enhance writing
Reading
  • Read a variety of simple written materials
  • Read independently
  • Express clear responses to written materials
Oral and Visual Communication
  • Retell stories and recount personal experiences
  • Talk about characters and situations in stories and relate them to personal experience
  • Read, view, and listen . . . and describe what they have learned in creating simple media works
  • Listen to discussions on familiar topics and ask relevant questions
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Life Systems: Growth and change in animals

  • Identify ways in which humans can affect other animals (and vice versa)
