Ontario Curriculum Objectives
- The Ontario Language, Math and Science/Technology
curriculum has just been revised. The following
objectives are for a Grade 2 level, which can be
adapted right up to Grade 6.
LANGUAGE

Writing
- Communicate ideas for specific purposes
(paragraph describing a trip)
- Organize ideas in a logical sequence (beginning,
middle, end)
- Produce short pieces of writing using simple
forms (narrative, poem)
- Use some materials from other media (collage) to
enhance writing

Reading
- Read a variety of simple written materials
- Read independently
- Express clear responses to written materials

Oral and Visual Communication
- Retell stories and recount personal experiences
- Talk about characters and situations in stories
and relate them to personal experience
- Read, view, and listen . . . and describe what
they have learned in creating simple media works
- Listen to discussions on familiar topics and ask
relevant questions

Systems: Growth and change in animals
- Identify ways in which humans can affect other
animals (and vice versa)
