  • DRAFTING TABLE A drawing board that has a vinyl covering; used as a smooth surface.

  • PARALLEL RULE A horizontal ruler running along cables that line the table. It has a vertical element that is used to draw straight lines.

  • T-SQUARE A wood and plastic straight edge, in the shape of a T, that is used to make straight lines. This is the older version of a Parallel rule.

  • LAMP A lamp that can clamp onto the side of a table.

  • SET SQUARES Clear plastic straight edge that is used to make perpendicular lines and 30-, 60-, and 45-degree angles.
  • DRAFTING TAPE Tape that is used to hold down drawings. Masking tape can be used instead.

  • MECHANICAL PENCIL A metal pencil that clamps the lead in place. The lead can be of various thicknesses.

  • LEAD SHARPENER A revolving sharpener.

  • ERASER A white eraser used to remove mistakes.

  • METAL SHIELD A flat metal template, with various holes and shapes, used to erase specific areas of a drawing.

  • DRAFTING BRUSH A large horsehair brush that brushes away eraser bits, graphite reside, and ambient residue.

  • CIRCLE TEMPLATE A plastic template used to make circles.

  • SCALE A long ruler that has scales on the side; it is used to automatically convert measurements.
