The anatum subspecies is migratory
( in summer it breeds in Canada, then it flies south in the
winter ro warmer areas). It nests throughout most of North
America below the tree line, except for coastal Alaska and
British Columbia. The full scientific names is Falco pereginus
anatum. Ontario's birds probably spend thier winters along
coastal areas in the Gulf of Mexico or in Central and South
America, but nobody knows for sure yet. Studies using satellite
telemetry may help scientists learn the exact migration routes
of the birds. |
