Rice Lake is located approximately 80 km (50 miles) east of Toronto. It is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway system. This shallow lake has many weed beds and mud flats. These areas provide abundant food, spawning and hatching areas and habitats for several species of fish including game fish in Ontario.

Rice Lake is known to be one of the best fisheries in southern Ontario. It provides a variety of fishing from the beginning of summer to mid fall. It is considered to be one of the best crappie fisheries in the province. Fishing includes small mouth bass, large mouth bass, muskie, walleye, crappie, perch, bullhead and bluegill.
