Sewage Lagoon

Gladstone ( northwest Winnipeg) - as part of an innovative water treatment project, this lagoon is currently used as a "natural" sewage treatment area. Water is emptied into the lagoon where it passes though natural filters, which trap and break down the contaminants in the water. The water is cleaned before it rejoins other bodies of water. This is a longer process than those at water treatment plants but it requires less energy and has a lower cost.
