A significant part of the Pacific Northwest intertidal zone consists of a rocky shoreline, home to a rich array of flora and fauna.

This Web site was the work of the Environmental Education class at Arbutus Junior Secondary School. This course is a science elective that includes a visit to the Bamfield Marine Station on the west coast of Vancouver Island. It has been taught at Arbutus since 1989 and received a B.C Government Environment Ministry award in 1998.
