Aboriginal Culture - the Ktunaxa

IThe Ktunaxa or Kootenay Nation have lived in the Kootenay and upper Columbia watersheds for thousands of years. These people lived together with earth’s natural habitat. They believe that one of the most important things in life is to respect nature and to look after our environment.

Scientists tell us that the Ktunaxa people have lived in the Rocky Mountain area for 14 000 years. But, the people of the Ktunaxa nation tell us that they can trace their roots back to the beginning of time. They say that this was a time when humans and animals were equals.
