MEDICARE PLAN STARTS JULY 1

Meetings between the provincial cabinet and representatives of the College of Physicians and Surgeons failed to result in any changes to the Medical Care Insurance Act which would make it more acceptable to the doctors.

One of Humboldt's doctors said that, as the situation now stands, all five Humboldt doctors will

be discontinuing their practice here as of July 1.

As far as is known, the nearest doctors to Humboldt on and after July 1 would be Dr. Allan Thompson at Watrous. The nearest hospitals providing emergency care for this area would be Wadena and Saskatoon.
