BRONCOS WIN PROVINCIAL TITLE

They did it.

Humboldt Broncos have won the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League championship.

An estimated 1,600 fans literally jammed the Arena Monday to see the Broncos beat Melville Millionaires 7- 4, and see their favorite team take the first SJHL championship for Humboldt.

The Bronco win gave them the SJHL best of seven final series over Melville

4 -1 in games.

It was fitting that the Broncos won the R.L. Hanbidge Trophy at home. The SJHL league trophy was named in honor of the late Judge Hanbidge, a former Humboldt resident.

The Broncos now await the Manitoba winner. The series opens Sunday at 8 p.m.

Dauphin won in Manitoba over the West Kildonan (Winnipeg) North Stars.
