BUILDING ACTIVITY IN HUMBOLDT DURING THE YEAR
A very fair indication of the improved conditions in Humboldt, and that the "depression" may be over are the signs of building activity in the town and district. Practically all local labor has been employed during the summer on various kinds of consruction work suddenly there has been very little call for local relief.

The most important new building erected this year is the new R. C. Separate School work on which has been in progress during the past four months, and which has just been completed. The cost of this building was about $30, 000.00. Another very large and substantial building now under erection is L. T. Dust's new garage, work shop and show room, bang erected at the rear of his show room and office building. It is 48 feet by 60 feet, and is being constructed of tile, steel, frame and stucco, with large circular roof.

The Canadian National Railways depot underwent very considerate improvements, a large addition being added to the east end of the

building and providing both ladies and gentlemen's waiting rooms. The building was made modern with the anticipation of water and and sewer and is steam heated thoughout.

A number of Main street buildings have also had extensive alterations and improvements made. Several new cottages were erected and others modernized, enlarged and improved. A fair estimate of the cost of new building and improvements during the year, in Humboldt, is $76,000.00. There has also been much building activity in the country and the various districts adjacent to Humboldt, where construction expenditures have run into many thousands of dollars. Many new school buildings hale been erected, others have been remodeled or enlarged and made more up to date. Many of the farmers have constructed new barns and remodelled their residences and other buildings. Much more building remains to be done, especially in the farming communities, and if conditions continue to improve, next year should see a continuation of building activity.
