LIBERAL GATHERING AT HUMBOLDT
Thursday last, February 1, was a memorable day in Humboldt, when the annual meeting of the Central Liberal Association of the Electoral District of Humboldt was held in the afternoon, and a grand banquet given in the evening to commemorate the recent victory of the Liberal party in Saskatchewan. Throughout the entire proceedings the greatest enthusiasm and harmony prevailed. Representatives were present from all parts of the riding, and everyone displayed a genial spirit and evidenced the sincere interest they took in the cause of liberalism.

The meeting in the afternoon was largely attended, the large billiard hall being well filled. The banquet in the evening at the Humboldt hotel was a tremendous success, the large and spacious dining room being taxed beyond its capacity, many having to wait until the second table, there being almost 75 guests present.

THE MEETING.
The meeting was called to order at about 2 o'clock, the president Mr. F. I. Hauser in the chair. The President opened with a few appropriate remarks, after which the minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed. Moved by Mr. Burr, seconded by Mr. Halback, that the constitution and by laws as adopted by the executive committee be read before the meeting. Moved in amendment by Mr. Richardson, seconded by Mr. Evans, that the constitution and by laws be adopted without reading and that a typewritten copy be sent to each local association. The amendment carried.

The chairman then called upon Mr. A. J. Adamson, M.P., the representative for this district in the House of Commons to address the meeting. Mr. Adamson made a very appropriate speech, in the course of which he explained to the meeting the reasons why the Government Seed Grain special car was unable to come to Humboldt this year, but gave the promise that next year Humboldt would be favored with a visit from the special.

The election of officers was then proceeded with, which resulted as follows:
President—F. I. Hauser.
First Vice President—G. T. Clarkson, Paskwegin.
Second Vice President—Albert Nenzel, Muenster.
Sec. Treas.—E. T. Wallace.
Honorary Presidents-A. J. Adamson, M.P., and Dr. Neely M.P.
Mr. Adamson and Dr. Neely each made a short speech after their election, thanking the association for the honor conferred on them.

Mr. Richardson moved that a vote of confidence in the Liberal Government of Sir Wilfred Laurier at Ottawa and its representative from this district Mr. A. J. Adamson, be passed by this association. Seconded by Rev. Hunter and carried unanimously.

Moved by Mr. Evans, seconded by Mr. Burr, that a vote of confidence in the Liberal Government of Hon. Walter Scott at Regina and our representative from this district, Dr. Neely, be passed at this meeting. Carried unanimously.

Moved by Dr. Neely, seconded by Dr. Hone, that a hearty vote of thanks be tendered by this meeting to the Liberal papers of this constituency, the “St. Peters Bote” and the Humboldt Journal for valuable service

rendered during the recent campaign. Carried unanimously.

Mr. Telfer, editor of the Journal, who was present, made a short speech in reply. Moved by Mr. Richardson, seconded by Mr. Hunter, that the next annual meeting be held at Quill Lake. Moved by Mr. Evans, seconded by Mr. Lamb, that the next annual meeting be held at Paskwegin. Moved by Mr. Nenzel, seconded by Dr. Hone, that the next annual meeting be held at Muenster.

Upon a show of hands being given on the different motions, it was found that the majority present were in favor of Muenster, but after further considering the matter the Muenster representative and also Quill Lake very generously withdrew their claims in favor of Paswegin, making that place the unanimous choice of the meeting. Meeting then adjourned.

THE BANQUET.
At a few minutes before 5 o’clock the door was thrown open and the guests passed into the banquet hall, where, under the direction of Mr. F. K. Wilson all were soon seated. The room was neatly decorated, and the festive board, loaded with all the good things that one could possibly wish for, presented a most appetizing appearance, and was highly commented on by everyone. It took just one hour of uninterrupted devotion to the good things to satisfy the inner man. At 10 o'clock the table was cleared and chairs pushed by, and the following programme rendered in excellent style:

Toast- “The King,” proposed by E.T. Wallace, responded to by Dr. Hone.
Song-- “Songs of the Motherland," Mr. Beavis.
Trio- "Just for Fun," Messrs. Spangl, Haskamp and Kost.

Messrs. Sam Evans, of Paskwegin, and W. J. Schmitt, of Muenster, also contributed to the programme.
The gathering broke up with singing "God Save the King."

The citizens are jubilant over the success of the banquet, as it is the first one that has ever been held here, and for a town so young as Humboldt the success that it met with shows that her citizens do not do things by halves.
