BIG RUSH OF SETTLERS

The rush the past few days is evidence that the immigration into the west has well began and Humboldt is receiving a good share of the new settlers.

Besides a number of cars that are billed for this point on every freight, a special train of about 25 cars and one coach arrived at noon on Thursday, all of which with the exception of one or two cars being for Humboldt. The party, about 50 in number, were from Berlin Ont., and will settle south of town.

The lumber merchants have had great difficulty supplying the demand for lumber, their spring shipments being delayed on the road, but this week a whole train load has arrived, and is being unloaded as rapidly as possible . It is common site to see ten or fifteen teams at any one of the yards waiting to be served. There is also a great demand for machines and the large supply of farm implements is fast diminishing.
