A special meeting of the Board of Trade was held at the Windsor Hotel on Thursday evening for the purpose of considering a proposition from Mr. Wm. Engles and Mr. Chas Chlimger, of Parkson, S.D., for the erection of a flour mill in Humboldt. The gentlemen propose to build a mill 32x40, 55 feet high, of 126 barrel per day capacity with elevator in connection. They ask as an inducement to locate here a free site and a bonus of $1,000. The matter |
was well discussed and the feeling was strongly in favor of doing everything
possible to secure the establishment of this important industry. As the village has not the power to give away property, it was decided to circulate a subscription list among the citizens and farmers end endeavor to raise as much money as possible for this purchase. It is the intention of the promoters of this industry to put up a first class mill fitted with all modern machinery.
