History of Kensington
Market |
|
St. Stephen-In-The-Fields
Anglican Church in Kensington Market once had one
of the largest congregations in Toronto. Kensington
has for years made a major contribution to the lives
of people from Christian, Jewish and most recently
the Buddhist faiths. It is, and continues to be,
a place where people from all over the world have
made their first home in the new country. It is
a place where, for generations, an attitude of racial
and ethnic harmony has thrived, with the succession
of European Jews, Hungarians, Italians, Ukrainians,
Portuguese, Asians, Caribbean people and other groups.
Many call Kensington mini-Toronto because
of its ethnic diversity. |
