Hunting Button

The natural migration of game and the seasons of the year dictated the hunting patterns of the Ktunaxa/Kinbasket people. There was no hunting season; rather they hunted selectively and always had conservation in mind. The areas that were chosen were ones that had the most abundance of the game being hunted so as not to deplete the source.

Everyone participated in the hunt. While the men hunted and fished, the women prepared the meat and hides and the older members tended to the children and cared for the camp. Hunting was a communal activity. All shared in times of abundance and suffered in times of hardship.
