Clothing of 18th-Century Louisbourg

The clothing worn by patrons of 18th-century Louisbourg significantly portrayed their extremely diverse social statuses. There were great similarities in the types of clothing, with differences occuring in the quality of the fabric, the design, any special trimmings, and the colours. The lower classes wore sombre colours of wools and linens such as shades of dark blue, black, grey, or brown. Meanwhile, the more social elite classes wore bright colours of velvets and silks, such as yellow, light blues, red, and green.
