Michel de Gannes
Michel de Gannes was born in Acadia, however he was hardly of Acadian origin. Both his parents came from noble French families. The De Gannes family could trace their ancestors back as far as 1364. However, the first De Gannes to come to North America was Michel's father, Louis. His mother was from the LeNeuf family, originally of noble Scottish background. Michel had an unusual physical appearance for a middle class man of the eighteenth century. He was five feet, eleven inches tall (most men were an average of five feet, five inches tall).
