Alexis Christien, better known as Alex, was born in St. Anicet, Quebec in 1847. He was married at a youthful age to Elizabeth Quesnel. They had two children, Thomas and Josephine.

Alex came to White Valley in 1889 with his son Tom, where they most likely lived together on Tom's preemption. On November 1st, 1892 he took land of his own, lot 235 along Highway 6, just west of Tom's farm. His wife Elizabeth joined him but did not like the farm life, she soon moved back east.

He is remembered as having made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Cleophas Quesnel when they were living on the Pierre Bessette Estate. It was there that he passed away in 1921 at the age of seventy four.
