S YDNEY P ARKINSON

Cook's first voyage (1766-1768) included both a botantical draughtsman and an artist. Six months into the voyage, the artist, Alexander Buchan, died of an epileptic seizure. However, the draughtsman, Sydney Parkinson produced more than 900 drawings during the voyage. Shown below are a few examples of his work.

Exact dates for Parkinson's birth and death could not be confirmed.
