Duncan Cran

Duncan Cran
Mr. Duncan Cran originally came to Fort St. John in 1930 as a surveyor for the British Columbia Land Survey and subsequently homesteaded to the west of Fort St. John. Through the years, Mr. Cran surveyed much of the North Peace River area, naming several portions of it. He selflessly served the community as a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, was on the Hospital Board for over thirty years and was a vigilant visitor of friends in the hospital, was a charter member of the Friendship Society, was a founding member of the Senior Citizens Association, was chief organizer of Red Cross Society activities and blood drives and was an honoured member of the Anglican Church. Duncan Cran's contributions to the community of Fort St. John are too extensive to list. A Fort St. John elementary school was named 'Duncan Cran School' in his honour.
