Canadian Peace Keeping Monument
![]()
The Canadian Peace keeping Monument,
created by Jack Harman of Gibson,
BC was unveiled on October 8,
1992 by Governor General Ramon Hnatyshyn and
Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
The monument located on Sussex Street is dedicated to thousands
of Canadian men and women who served abroad in peacekeeping missions.
This monument was built to honour the Canadian soldiers who had
served on various United Nations Peace Missions since 1956.
Canadian soldiers continue to serve on many Peace-Keeping Missions
including in the former Yugoslavia. Along with soldiers from Canada
and other nations, there are also units of the Ukrainian National
Army serving as peace-keepers in the same area.
