Much of contemporary Nova Scotian culture comes from an early Scottish influence. In fact, the name Nova Scotia means New Scotland. Indeed the provincial flag and coat of arms are both Scottish in origin. In the following pages of journal entries, you will learn of the first Scottish migration to the Western Valley. It is the tale of the founding of New Scotland.
