Downtown Regina (1910-1930's)
Following the turbulent years of the city's establishment
many of the structures that identify it as a major centre
began to take shape these included the opening
of the CPR rail station in 1912, and the Hotel Saskatchewan
in 1927. After the Regina Cyclone of 1912 many of the
destroyed and damaged buildings were rebuilt. At this
time Regina witnessed the construction of its first
"skyscraper", a ten-story building, built by the McCallum Hill
firm of Regina. In the 1920's Regina experienced a building
boom that would lead to the establishment of a town
planning commission in 1930.
