Business and Trade
Following the Second World War the Regina Board
of Trade changed its name to the Regina Chamber
of Commerce. In 1951 The Regina Chamber of
Commerce relocated its office to its present home
at 2145 Albert Street.
As the city's economy grew, so did the demands
of the home consumer. In 1965 the first enclosed
shopping mall opened in Regina, The Northgate
Shopping Centre in North Regina. By the 1980's
Regina was home to several shopping centres
and hundreds of businesses.
Major constructions in the 1980's included the
construction of The Cornwall Centre, The CBC
building, The Neil Balkwill Centre, The Regina
Sportsplex and The Ramada Renaissance and
the Saskatchewan Trade and Convention Centre.
Construction crews work the site of The Cornwall Centre,
a $100 million shopping complex built in the 1980's,
circa 1980.
