The Cold

The cold is a group of viruses that infect your nose and throat. The viruses are carried through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Usually the cold only lasts around three days.

When you have a cold, your body tries to fight the viruses by making lots of mucus. The extra mucus makes your nose really runny!

There is no cure for the cold, but you can try and prevent getting it by staying away from people who have a cold, and eating right.

Once you have a cold, bed rest isn't really necessary, but it might make you feel better. Sucking on a piece of candy can help relieve your sore throat, and drinking lots of fluids can be beneficial. It is also important to rest, since your body needs all it's energy to fight the viruses!
