In the development phase, the following careers will be made available offshore or related to offshore activities:

During production, 60 full-time jobs will be offered on the platforms. 15 person-years of contract jobs would also be offered, equating to a total of 75 jobs. The rigs will be supported by workover crews (16 full-time, 10 person-years contract, 17 total) and logistical crews (49 full-time, 28 person-years contract, 77 total). As of March 1997, drilling contracts have been awarded to Rowan Companies Inc. and Sante Fe Drilling Co. The following jobs will have to be filled during construction and installation:

Position: Structural and pressure welders
Training Required:Appropriate Welding Certificate
Training Paths: Community Colleges offer training in welding fields. Such campuses include the University College of Cape Breton and the Nova Scotia Community College.
Job Description: Fabricating and repairing assorted metal structures involved in the project construction, as well as the interpretation of blueprints. Welders must be prepared to possibly work in cramped and awkward spaces.

Training Paths:Training in this area is available at the Nova Scotia Community College and similar campuses.
Job Description: Installation, maintenance, and repair of facility piping. They will need to be able to read blueprints and specifications. Installation of equipment may include plumbing, pipelines, and fire protection equipment. Other activities may include cutting and threading pipes, operating hand and power tools, join pipes using clamps, cement, or welding equipment; cut openings in walls, floors, and ceilings; install support for piping systems; connect piping systems to water mains and pumps; clean pipes; and testing for leaks. They must be prepared to work in cramped and awkward spaces.

Training Required: Electronics Certificate
Training Paths:Training in this area is offered at the Nova Scotia Community College, and similar campuses.
Job Description: Installation and activation of the various electronic systems of the facilities. Other activities may include inspecting and testing instruments, tools, and equipment; using multimeters, circuit tests, and electronic test instruments; diagnose and locate circuit, component, and equipment faults; and adjust, align, replace, or repair electronic equipment and components following equipment manuals, plans, and specifications. They must be prepared to work in cramped and awkward spaces.

Job Description: Support of operation of the barges or cranes. Activities may include standing watch, operating and maintaining deck equipment, cleaning, chipping and painting deck surfaces, handling mooring lines, splicing and repairing ropes, repairing wire cables and cordage, and performing other deck or bridge duties.
