The
beginning of Anne Savage's career as an artist can be traced to
her years at the school of the Art Association of Montreal, which
she attended from 1914-1918. There she was introduced to Art Nouveau
design, Impressionism and the new European developments by two
of her teachers, Maurice Cullen and William Brymner.
|
Maurice Cullen,
who had studied in Paris, was instrumental in bringing Impressionism
to Canada.
"The
one thing about Maurice Cullen that perhaps influenced me was
his complete absorption in what he was doing and his great love
of the outdoor world".
