The Snuneymuxw people are presently taking initiatives to protect and reintroduce the culture. Language groups are organized and open to anyone willing to learn or practice the native language, Hulquiminum. Elders have played an important role in the survival of traditions. The Elders group meets to discuss topics important to the community. A traditional Dance group is also in place to teach Snuneymuxw community members, young or old, traditional dancing.

These initiatives identify the Snuneymuxw people as a unique group. The process of cultural assimilation in the community unites and allows the Snuneymuxw people to face the challenges of the future together. The passing of knowledge from one generation to the next is vitally important to the survival of this culture.

Above is the traditional Longhouse of the Snuneymuxw. This is where a majority of community events are held and witnessed. Today, many of the Snuneymuxw people also practice traditional beliefs at this Longhouse.
