At the Youth Centre, Snuneymuxw youth always have their hands full! , Open year-round, the Youth Centre attracts approximately 15 to 20 young people aged six and up from Monday to Friday.

At a Fun Day held in 1998, some youth enjoyed putting whipped cream on others for the Throwing Candy game. The team with the most candy stuck to the whipped cream face won the game.

Youth Centre Activities

Arts & crafts, video nights, woodworking, cooking, field trips, theatre, Cyber City Amusement Park, gym nights, boxing and Youth Conferences are all regular activities at the Youth Centre.

Youth Centre programs are supported by two new vans, a pool table, television, VCR, stereo, computer, refrigerator, stove and a microwave oven and a homework area. Staff members include a Brighter Futures Coordinator, a Recreation Director and three Youth Workers.

Snuneymuxw Youth travel to many different places for entertainment and activities. Annual trips include skiing, waterslides, Vancouver Grizzly basketball games, Pacific National Exhibition and overnight camping trips.

Youth Conferences are held throughout the year. Youth attend conferences in Duncan, Qualicum and Crofton. Conferences cover lifeskills, Treaty negotiations, cultural awareness, arts and crafts, HIV/AIDS, drugs and alcohol, and STD's.
